Accessibility
How we build this website, and what to do if something here does not work for you.
We want this site to be usable by everyone looking for somewhere to live, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, or magnification. We build against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA as our working standard.
What we do
- Every page is server-rendered HTML with proper landmarks and heading structure, and a link to skip straight to the main content.
- The site is designed to work fully by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
- Form fields have real labels, and errors are described in text rather than by color alone.
- Property photographs always have alternative text for screen readers.
- Text colors are chosen to meet WCAG contrast ratios against their backgrounds.
- Animation is minimal, and is turned off when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Automated tests check every page for headings, landmarks, labeled form fields and image descriptions before changes go live.
Help with renting
If a disability makes any part of finding or renting a home harder — reading a listing, touring, or completing an application — ask us for help or for the information in another way. That is a reasonable accommodation, and how to request one is explained on our fair housing page.
Known limitations
- Websites we link to, such as assistance programs and government agencies, are run by others and have their own level of accessibility.
- On our Spanish rent help page, the site's header and footer are still in English.
This is an ongoing effort rather than a finished state. If you hit something that does not work — a control you cannot reach, an image without a useful description, text you cannot read — please tell us. We will work to fix it promptly and, in the meantime, give you the same information another way.
